I got this to use in my office, but the sound quality is very poor so I have resorted back to headphones.

This is a handy portable speaker, but not quite loud enough. I have only used it for things like audiobooks, not music. The sound quality is okay, not great -- but for the price you can't expect a whole lot more.
It's loud enough if you want to use it right next to you in an environment with low noise. We tried to use it in the car for an audiobook on an mp3 player, but the sound is too low for anyone but the person right next to it to hear with all the noises around.
The product would be better if it had a small cord for the plug instead it being attached directly to the speaker. Because the portable device lays right against the speaker when plugged in, other ports may be blocked off. Other speakers have a short (eg 3-4 inch) cord so when you plug the speaker into the device, you can still use the device's other ports.
Since this speaker was not loud enough, we purchased another set of inexpensive portable speakers (the folding kind) and those worked much better. The sound quality was much better on those other speakers, too, which made me think the quality on this device could easily be improved.
