Returning to Amazon July 25, 2010 Karie J. Ward (Decatur MI) Hated it! I thought the sound was really "tinny", and I think it looks pretty cheesy in person. I was disappointed and I returned this. I don't even think I'd be able to use it at work and keep the volume down, I thought the sound was so bad.
For audiobooks it's great! April 27, 2010 Nancy S DeJong (Hull, Iowa United States) I use a different MP3 player for audiobooks than an iPod. I can very easily input it into this small speaker system, and have someone read to me while i work in the kitchen, clean house, take a shower or almost anything. My ipod does have the added benefit of charging while in this, but i use that for music, which really needs a different speaker system than this. For the spoken word, this is great!
cheaply engineered product April 25, 2010 maywefishnow (nj,usa) Just received this yesterday and had to post this review. First off let me start by saying i'm not at all impressed with this ilive (boombox). ..It isn't a boombox by no means.. my 10.00 20year old weather band GE radio has about the same (boombox) sound quality if you get my meaning. The power cord is loose and falls out easily after a few times i slightly moved this thing on my end table in my bedroom. This alone is reason enough to want to return it. I just can't see this a lasting product especially at around 50 dollars range.. perhaps it will someday be a good deal selling it at around 20.00 dollars because truely this is about what it is worth. regards, john
Not worth your money or time December 13, 2009 Mitzi Aylor Yes this Docking system may be portable....as you walk to the trash to put throw it away. the sound is horrible on this machine. It is not worth your time or effort.

Lemon? November 24, 2009 Christine Hancock 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
At first I thought the unit was completely DOA as I plugged it into several outlets and got no power.
Finally, after plugging and unplugging the power cord from the back of the unit a few times I could get it to power on for a second or two before it would die. Repeat.
Then it would come on and stay on for a minute or so before dying again. Or, it would power off when I so much as touched/moved it. So, I guess it's a lemon.
The sound quality was actually somewhat decent considering the unit's size and price, for the minute I got to hear it.
