Nice Player January 9, 2010 Thomas L. Buddenbohn (Arlington TX) I bought 2 of these for gifts. I had to open one to see how it sounded and I was quite pleased with sound and looks. Both recipients were very happy with this gift.
Research charging capabilities! December 26, 2009 H. E. Perez (Northern , NJ United States) Nice little system for the price. I highly suggest researching your ipod model for charging capabilities. I have a new ipod nano 5th gen and this unit will not charge it, just seems senseless that it really is just adding speakers to my nano and nothing else.
Great sound! October 25, 2009 Rza. (NJ) I own the Zen version of this speaker dock also and was glad to find one for my new 160gb Ipod, since creative doesn't make them anymore. I have a friend that bought a Bose $300 speaker dock for his ipod wowed over the quality of this relatively inexpensive speaker system. The Zen Vision M sound quality is far superior to the ipod, but this dock makes the ipod sound a lot better than it does with the earbads.
Great sound, high quality product. September 16, 2009 M. Winter (Illinois) The sound quality is GREAT, and it's portable with 8 C batteries. I recommend buying rechargeable batteries (http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=10242693) so you can take it on the road and not fret about burning out the batteries.
Note of caution: Much like seemingly any ipod dock, I experienced a connection issue after a summer of RUGGED use. I'd have to put something behind the ipod and lean it forward in the dock before it'd work -- again, I've seen this issue occur with many different models. Returning it to Creative (Cambridge Soundworks sells the product, but Creative Labs makes it) is a hassle, but they'll come through for you in the end and send you a replacement. They've laid off a majority of their customer service employees to stay afloat, leaving them with 7 TOTAL at last check. Because of this, the phone number is nearly impossible to find. If you need to return the product under warranty, call 1-800-469-9269.
Good sound quality in an Apple white shell August 7, 2009 DKD (Chicago, IL) Is the new white black or the new black white? Can't tell with Apple anymore. Anyway, the white case is very Apple-like and be prepared it stands out in a room. This is neither here nor there when it comes to the important stuff like sound quality and connectivity. The sound: It was better than expected from a portable (yes, you can load it up with a gaggle of C batteries if you choose). Although sound adjustment comes from your source (if you have it), such as the ipod eq presets, you do have a sound expanding mode via a small button on the top of the unit. Low freq delivery is good and highs are relatively crisp. If you choose to crank this thing it accommodates to a neighbor rousing level. It is more than enough in an apartment. Out of the box you have the usual collection of extra ipod/mp3 player size sleeves that you can save and collect after selecting the right one for your ipod. No support for iPhone but you can use it to play music but won't charge. The 1/8 headphone jack input is great if you are plugging in your old 1st gen cassette Walkman or something else. I used it with an Apple Airport Express to have an extension of my entire music library into another part of the house. A credit card sized remote provides basic adjustments including menu control for iPods but has a few useless buttons. Overall I'd say it is a good buy with a convenient handle if you want to move it around.
