Looks great but sounds horrible July 11, 2010 Hak-Fan Lau There were not many choices of mini hi-fi systems and we were attracted by the slick and space-saving design. But what a disappointment it has turned out to be - the sound quality is so poor! We were not expecting a lot but we had had very good experiences previously with two mini systems in the same price range by other brands. As another reviewer has pointed out, the sound is muffled. And worst still, when we turned the volume up - even very moderately, as we played CDs for our baby -you started to hear frequently some "zzzzz...."-like sound, as though the cover of the speakers vibrated. There is no depth to the sound either. It came out rather metallically. We could not return the item because we had (mis)placed so much faith in Philips that we discarded the original package right away. It was gone when we tried to retrieve it in the basement the next morning. So please be warned. This is the first time I write a product review. I want others to know that you do sometimes get substandard products even from a well established brand name. This item is certainly one to stay away from.
Horrible sound quality June 15, 2010 G. Campbell (Alexandria, VA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
When searching for a new stereo, I wanted something that integrated well with MP3s, an iPod and an iPhone. I also loved the design and the ability to hang it on the wall. Unfortunately, the sound quality is horrendously bad. It is muffled,as if the speakers are full of cotton. We tried all music inputs (radio, iPhone, iPod, CD) and they were all equally bad. Frankly, I was shocked that Philips would sell such a poor product. I wasn't expecting top of the line, as the price was fairly low, but basic sound clarity would have been nice. We returned it to Amazon.
Got what expected June 14, 2010 Syuen 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
The only con is that it doesn't come with multi-voltage (110-220) option. If you live abroad, it won't work with 220v.
no bass, poor sound quality June 7, 2010 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
no bass at all, with no bass at all you cannot appreciate sound quality,... if you need it just for your hitchen it's ok.
