I love this system. It charges my ipod while listening and when not in use.
The sound has excellent quality and bass for the price.
The fm antenna is a little weak, but the purchase was mainly for ipod charging and speakers. Stronger stations come in clearly.
I have not used the usb port and cannot provide a review for it.
Over all I would strongly recommend this product.
 Great feature set but mediocre sound May 19, 2010

I have had this unit for a month (purchased on clearance from Target) but have decided to return it. I liked the breadth of features at this price point; the USB port is a nice touch for playing music files. I did not use the ipod dock but used the CD player and radio extensively. The construction qualityand finish are fine. But......the sound is disappointing. I bought this unit for our kitchen. I am an audiophile but I don't expect high end sound out of a small inexpensive unit. I do expect it to be listenable. As another reviewer pointed out, the sound, especially for vocals is "muffled" and the lower frequencies are "boomy". The preset tone curves were of no help. The poor tonal balance made it hard to listen to this unit for any length of time. I'm surprised more reviewers have not commented on this; it is not a subtle effect. I don't know how Philips arrived at this sound balance. As a comparison, I purchased the just released, similarly priced Panasonic SC-HC30 unit Panasonic SC-HC30 Compact Stereo System from Amazon and the Panasonic has much better sound. The sound is more balanced and vocals are much better. I recommend the Panasonic strongly over the Philips based upon sound quality, which at the end of the day is what matters most in a music player.

If you keep in mind what you are purchasing and if you keep in mind that this is an equipment for small spaces, then you will definetelly like it.
Great sound quality for it's size and purpose.
It accepts most types of medias (equipments and media types).
There are some small issues that could be fixed on my opinion. It doesn't make sense for me that my Ipod only gets recharged when I manually select the "iPod" menu. If I dock my iPod on the system it should recharge it no matter if I'm listening to a CD, radio or whatever. So this is my main complain, it could recharge even if on another menu mode.
The rest is perfect. :-)

I bought this for my sister and her husband for christmas, it was on back order for a few months but she says it was well worth the wait! They use it almost everyday and rave about the sound quality and ease of use. Sounds like it was a great buy!
