Purchased this as a gift for my 13 year old son, not sure of your teenager, but mine is critical of sound quality lately.
He was pleased with the sound and build of this product. Don't expect to have a party in a large room and use this as the sound system, but it works fine in a bedroom or dorm.The fact that it charges the i-pod touch is a plus, eliminating one set of wires.

Pros________
- Good Look and design. This unit is very stable sitting on your desk. With batteries, it has a good weight.
- Quality construction, good materials
- Button controls are a plus
- Good sound quality and spectrum of frequencies
- iPod docking ports for vertical as well as horizontal positioning
Cons________
- Design is for iPod docking, so other MP3 players don't sit snugly because of the socket ports in the cradle. But it still works with the standard audio plug.
- Volume is inadequately too low. You cannot get full room volume. Its mainly for up close desk listening a couple feet away.
While I don't regret purchasing this, had I tried it first, I think I would have set this aside and looked around some more. Mainly because of the low volume factor. Sometimes I like to use it when Im working in my shop or showering, and it's just to low to hear.

I needed a small speaker for my iPhone for traveling, and to be load enough for the hotel room or trade show area. It works great. Love the size, and price!

Love everything about this except the remote. Cannot get the remote to work. It is a great speaker system because it charges your itouch while using it. It is also neat you can dock it two different ways, one to listen to tunes and one to watch movies.

Very good for the price. Sounds good and I can set the alarm on the itouch and hear it loud
