3 out of 5 stars Okay for a device that does not have a built in speaker   July 16, 2010
Joe McNally
I purchased this item in hopes to increase the volume compared to the built-in speaker on my palm pre. Unfortunately, despite being battery powered, it does not have any increased volume over the built-in speaker. It does look very nice however, battery life is solid, and it would be fine for a device like an ipod that does not have a built-in speaker, assuming that the device pushes out the sound amplified enough on its own.

5 out of 5 stars Great product for the price   June 23, 2010

I use this speaker in my toddler's jogger when we are out for walks. It works perfectly for this purpose and I don't even need to have the volume all the way up. I also use it in the kitchen when preparing dinner so I don't disturb anyone who may be watching television.

2 out of 5 stars Quieter than Speakerphone   April 18, 2010

I purchased this in spite of the reviews saying it was too soft. My mistake. I wanted an external speaker so that I could listen to Podcasts from my iPhone in the car (no aux jack, tape deck, etc). I threw this speaker away after a few uses for two main reasons:

1) This speaker is not quite as loud as the iPhone's speakerphone. For use in a car at highway speeds, it is too soft.

2) This speaker gets interference from GSM-band signals. If it is plugged into your iPhone (or any other phone that uses GSM), you will hear that distinctive electronic buzz when your phone transmits.

Overall, I was not happy with this product.

4 out of 5 stars great for the size   April 6, 2010
Allen E. Bender (Beverly Hills, CA USA)
While not for the noisy enviro like, say, a jet, this product is quite good for a quiet room. I have to say it beats the heck out of the earbuds which make my ears sore after an hour or so. Although you won't be getting down with your dance moves, it works great for an audiobook and, all in all, it performs as it should.

3 out of 5 stars Sorry, it's too quiet   February 27, 2010

The idea is great - no more batteries to change all the time; it's easily rechargable. And it's stereo speakers, not just one. And it's portable.

But none of that makes any difference if you have to hold the speaker up to your ear to hear it! I want to at least be able to set it on the desk - which is only a few inches away - to hear my MP3 player. I can't do with this product.
