I bought this portable over two years ago, and it still draws the praise of everyone that hears it. I use my iPhone with Pandora, and I pretty much run the Party at the pool.
Fantastic sound quality. Don't know if they ever fixed the iPhone issue, where it doesnt charge it, but no matter. Worth every penny. Highly recommend

This system rocks. I could not believe the bass and clarity of the music. The unit is solid and easy to use. I have a iPod Classic and iPhone, which work fine. I've listened to the most of the iPod speaker systems and this one sounded the best. Better sound then the Bose units, more bass than most of the others.

Not exactly true. Just received the newer model today and upon inspection a few things have been omitted on the newer model:
1) No USB Port
2) No S-Video Port
3) No twin, rear-firing drivers anywhere to be found on this newer model. Behind one rear grill is a port for the front drivers and the other is covered up with plastic. Was there ever rear drivers that I read about in the professional reviews?
I never heard the original model so I can not make a comparison. It still is a very nice sounding unit, very balanced sound. No boomy bass and no sizzling highs. Actually it's pretty rich and warm sounding which is good.

I bought this for use in my family's vacation home, but after setting it up in my place I almost didn't want to give it up. Unfortunately I could see a few neighborly noise complaints coming my way if I kept it (just one of the joys of condo life- I knew that bass was going right through the floor!).
I managed to fit this in my carry-on and it rocked us through the week non-stop; way better than the cheapo stereo my Dad had setup originally, and miles ahead of any ipod dock I've ever heard.
Yes, it's expensive.. but the build quality is top-notch, the functionality is superb and the sound is excellent. You won't break it or regret it.

I bought this about one year ago. It has been awesome! I use it more than my surround sound basically because it's quicker for me and sometimes I think if you close your eyes you might just think it is surround sound. I just throw my ipod in and KABAAM! I am amazed every time I turn it on. BUT... all of a sudden the base has gone through the roof. It's very irritating. It doesn't rattle or anything, just to overwhelming to listen to, thus the reason for the 3 star. The only thing I could think is my kids playing it at full volume, but then again so did I on occasion it seemed to handle it fine. Also tried adjusting ipod settings. Apparently from HKs website there is nowhere here in LA area or anywhere to repair it. If anyone has a tip, thanks.
