Product has a 2 year life span...don't buy! September 8, 2010 Arali (NY USA) I bought this product in November of 2008. It just broke. The ipod docking prongs broke and need to be resoldered. When I contacted JBL, they said I would have to buy a new one, as they do not service their speakers. Complete waste of time. When it worked it was a great piece of equipment I used just about every day. The ipod was docked almost always for continuous charge, and I used it without the adapter. I wonder now if the weight of the ipod (I have the classic) might have caused wear on the prongs and whether I should have used the adaptor, but after visiting other websites with reviews on this product, I found that this was happening to everyone that had purchased the radial speakers. Thankfully, this product is no longer available but I wonder if other JBL products have the same problem. I now use this as speakers for my laptop. No way am I buying a new one. Buyer, beware of JBL products if all ipod docking speakers have this problem. You will only get two years out of this unit.
only worked for 2 years August 17, 2010 massage is medicine 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have owned this for 2 years. Use it in my office about 30-40 hours per week. Great sound and portable.compared to the Bose for same price sound was 100x better with Radial because sound comes out of both sides where as the Bose the sound is only good if standing directly in front of speaker. Worked great up until a couple months ago. My 4G Ipod never had a problem but I have upgraded to the 8G Nano and when I put it on the dock for the first time no sound comes through speakers now for some reason! I have to use the adapter cable to hear anything which means it does not charge Ipod while playing and my Ipod has died unexpectantly in middle of work day. Maybe docking prong bent?? Plasitc adapters which snap into the dock area came with the Radial but the instructions do not say they need to be used in order to keep prong from bending so I had no idea. I was always very careful when placing my Ipod on the prong but I guess not careful enough! Seems a bit flimsy and expected more than 2 years use out of my Radial!
Excellent product, lousy customer support! August 11, 2010 Hugo Ribeiro 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this nice speakers for my iPOD which I have been enjoying very much until the day I had to contact JBL technical support when my small son destroyed the iPOD connector in the base. I took the speakers for reparing at a JBL authorized technical service and they gave me a quotation of 300 to do so which I obviouslly refused since it was more expensive than the speakers. I directly contacted JBL to provide me a solution for this since I couldn't believe that such an expensive product and premium brand would not have a differnt solution for my problem instead of a disposable solution which I would expect from a cheaper manufacturer.
After months insisting and several emails to different JBL countries, I received a phone call from the local service representative that proposed me again to get my unit repared for 300 or as an alternative to buy a new one???
Conclusion: nice product, great sound and performance but pray you dont need to use their technical support.

don't buy it May 24, 2010 Warren S. Gilmore (EUFAULA, AL) own an apple hi fi and love it. never had any kind of problem. bought 2 of my daughters bose sound docks and love them no problems. bought one of my daughters a jbl radial. love the sound but the system will lock up your i pod. have seen several reviews with the same problem. called jbl about the problem. spoke to 3 different people in india who you could not understand. got an american on the phone and jbl denies they have had problems. ask around and you will find out. buy a bose or an apple hi fi if you can find one. i will never buy another jbl product.
Spend the extra $50 and buy the BOSE!! March 11, 2010 Mathew Rideout (Tampa, FL USA) My gf bought this for me for a xmas present to go with my New Ipod Touch and I was very excited when I got it. Love the radial design and ease of use. But after using it for a couple of months now, I have to say it is way overpriced for what you get as terms of sound quality. The bass is almost non existant once you turn it up past about half way. The sound is good for an office or small room but is far from what you want if you want to use this anywhere else. I tested my ipod on my friends Bose ipod dock, which runs about $300 and it destroys this system in almost every way possible.
I repeatedly asked my gf what she paid for this system (I was figuring around $100, based upon its performance) and I was shocked when she told me $250. You can get a Home theater in a box with an ipod dock for that. This is by no means anything close to a real high end system especially considering the price. This system should have better sound all the way around for this kind of money. I am selling this on ebay, with my gf approval, and will be getting the Bose system shortly.
Like I said in the title, spend the extra $50 or so dollars and buy the BOSE Ipod dock...it is well worth the money and destroys this system in almost every way.
