iLuv to hate this device January 27, 2010 Eric N. Yiskis (Las Vegas, NV) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
Note: this review is for one model revision before this one, but it appears all the functions are the same.
I wanted to wake up to music instead of the harsh buzzer. The radio reception is so full of static, I couldn't hear the music. Fine, I'll use some of it's advanced features, I'll plug in a USB thumb drive with music. It initially plays music off the thumb drive, but when I tried to use it as an alarm it didn't work. OK. I'll burn a CD with the music on it. It can't read the CD. All my other devices (the few CD devices I have left) can read it.
Also I can't see the numbers on the clock display in normal room light. It has three dimming settings, I keep turning it up, and it automatically turns it back down. Basically, I have to turn up the display every morning to read it.
Summary -- Radio = no, CD = no, USB = no, Clock display = no. Other than the confusing buttons for setting everthing ... it's fine.
Great system December 29, 2009 R. Jensen (Sacramento, CA USA) This system works very well and exceeds expectations. Though box doesn't state, it works with the IPOD touch and Iphone.
Excellent IPOD Dock with Bluetooth that works reliably December 21, 2009 Rakesh Koul (Portland, OR USA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This is my 3rd IPOD Dock. Previously owned an IHOME and another ILUV Product, which I had to return. This one has been amazingly good so far at this price. Bought it for $53-ish from E. Expo through Amazon.
Pros:
(1) Bluetooth - the others were pricier and had no bluetooth. To my surprise, bluetooth pairing and functionality has been great. I have a Blackberry Curve 8310 and it connects to it instantly. I can play mp3 from my blackberry and route the music to the ipod dock over BlueTooth. I read other reviews which talk about limited BT range. So this is the first thing I tested. I kept the clock in my kitchen in first floor and my blackberry in 2nd floor bed room, which are quite far apart. The music was streaming like normal. I use the BT Feature pretty often and my blackberry pretty much works like a mp3 source and a remote. I can choose the song, change the volume or stop the music from the blackberry. Better than my expectation.
(2) Sound quality is good.
(3) Works great with my IPOD 30GB Video.
(4) Comes with a Line-IN (aux) and Line-Out.
(5) Good looks. I own a black clock.
(6) FM Reception is great for most of the strong stations. Weaker stations may generate some noise
Cons:
(1) Remote range is too low, less than 7ft. Within the same room, the remote doesn't work sometimes across half the length of the room.
Won't last December 5, 2009 J. Johnson 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
We bought three of these radios last Christmas and none of them still work. All of the backlights quit w/in the first 6 months, one iPod dock broke off, two totally quit. They seem nice at first and have a nice sound, but all of mine turned out to be junk!
sound OK, poor compatibility and radio options December 4, 2009 Nicholas Tripcevich These units are being sold far below suggested retail.
Note that they are only compatible with 5th gen (video) ipods and that you cannot program the radio. You have to dial in the (digital) tuner with a physical dial.
Sound is pretty good, and at $52 the price is right.
