With Expanded Sound Stage technology, the speakers sound further apart than they really are for a bigger soundstage. View larger. View Remote. | Superior Sound in a Small Package Employing dual two-inch neodymium drivers that are optimized for high-frequency sound, the iM600USB offers unmatched musicality and clarity. Despite its compact size, the bass is punchy and has good extension, and with Altec Lansing's Expanded Sound Stage (ESS) technology, the speakers will sound further apart than they actually are, for a greater stereophonic image. Elegant Design Matches the iPod The iM600USB sports a distinctive thin and elegant glossy-black look. A spring-loaded button deploys the speaker's stand and reveals the iPod dock, power button, and volume controls. Your iPod perches front and center, resting at an angle to display the current track information and album art while recharging. If your iPod model has the alarm clock and sleep timer features, they will work seamlessly with the iM600USB. Various docking adapters are included, making the iM600USB compatible with most iPods. Also, an auxiliary input lets you connect any CD, DVD, or MP3 player using a stereo mini-plug. Built-in FM Tuner If you get bored with the songs on your iPod, the iM600USB has a built-in FM tuner, letting you listen to your favorite music and talk radio. Near the top of the unit is an LCD that displays the current FM frequency; buttons on top provide tuning controls. The tuner also features a memory for four presets and a telescoping antenna for better reception. Change the Music from Across the Room A small remote control is included, letting you change the musical selection from across the room. A storage slot built into the system itself makes it easy to store the remote, preventing you from losing it behind couch cushions and other inconvenient places. Take Your Music To-Go With a compact size that folds closed to a mere 11 x 1.7 x 6 inches (W x D x H), and weighing only 2.1 pounds, the iM600USB is easy to take with you to the beach, on vacation, or wherever else you're going. The built-in rechargeable Li-ion battery lets you listen to more than 7 hours of continuous play. An AC adapter is included for connected listening and recharging the battery. The Altec Lansing iM600USB is backed by a one-year warranty. What's in the Box iM600USB speaker system, wireless remote, iPod docking adapters, power supply, user's guide, and quick connect instructions.
The iM600USB will provide enough big sound to keep your party rocking. |

Not durable August 26, 2010 Patrick Bosque (Denver, CO United States) I bought this device about 2 years ago. Sound quality is good for a portable device. Battery life is ok. However, after using the device for about 18 months, the electronics started acting oddly. It would often need to be folded up then unfolded to reset something that would cause the device to "freeze" Recently it has began shutting off every 5 minutes, despite a full charge. For $130 I expected something more durable.
Nice sound and appearance, but the remote is tricky August 25, 2010 JRW Basically I like the unit. I bought it for it's portability and quality. It fits nicely in a small travel pouch that I purchased. The sound is great (room filling). It goes just about anywhere and fits in almost any decor. But, I must say the remote is a little tricky at times which can be frustrating.
Great buy for the money! August 24, 2010 Carrie (Jacksonville, FL United States) My husband and I love this speaker system. We use it all the time with our iPod touches - in the house, out in the garage, on the back porch, at the beach, camping, etc. The battery life is great - not sure how long it lasts unplugged, but we've never run out of juice. The sound is good at reasonable volumes, even at the loudest I've had it, it still sounds pretty good. Also love that your iPod gets charged when the system is plugged in.
The only problem we've had is with the docking station. For some reason, my husband's iPod won't stay upright, so it won't connect without putting something behind it. Mine has always worked fine, though, so I'm not sure if it's the docking station or his iPod. The great thing, though, is that you can always use the auxillary cord to connect the iPod. I find this is great when traveling with it, as you don't have to worry about the iPod becoming unconnected when its being jostled around.
Bottom line: get this - you won't regret it!
everything I hoped for August 22, 2010 cheryl I looked for a long time for a doc for my ipod. This is everything I hoped it would be. I have NO complaints...at all!
The sound is excellent, I can listen to NPR in my bathroom, it rechargeable and I can take it camping....that is THE BEST PART!
very dissapointed August 7, 2010 Caterina Schiavulli (usa) I bought one for a friend and then decided it to buy one for myself the same thing happened to both items it worked for a while then you it stopped working you have to put somekind of support in the back so it could make the connection to the Ipod and have to hold it all the time...Piece of junk, I tried sending it back and I was told from Amazon that I have to contact the nanufacter. DO NOT BUY this item...
